ABOUT
I'm a former lawyer, certified coach, philosopher, reiki master, surf life saver and someone who's spent all my life exploring what it means to live a connected, meaningful life - to yourself, to others, and to something greater.
The backstory
I started out doing a philosophy degree and then I decided it would be a good idea to become a lawyer. In many ways it was a good idea - it made good use of my analytical and communication skills and I loved solving problems, presenting advice to clients and working with others in a big team.
However after a few years, things fell apart. My life as a London lawyer was fabulous on paper but something was catching up on me. The underlying mental health issues I'd been managing for years were intensifying and could no longer be kept in the attic. I did all the 'right' things for success according to Margaret Thatcher, yet after a second mental breakdown, I was told I may need antidepressants for the rest of my life.
I went through years of therapy, silent retreats, energy work, coaching, and pretty much every modality you can think of. I often felt told to toughen up and get on with it - that this was just life - suck it up. But through leaning into my faith and seeing one incredible therapist - I didn’t accept it. Something was wrong here. I was not born depressed. And I was not born to be depressed. I was born to win. We are all born to win.
Long story short, through blending holistic and evidence-based tools and a lot of perseverance, I'm now medication-free and the happiest I've ever been.
Eventually I trained in coaching, moved to Melbourne and built a practice helping others get unstuck and move through change. But somewhere along the way, I realised I had more to say than could fit in a 1-1 session or a corporate setting.
What I'm doing now
These days, I'm focused on writing and creating. I explore spiritual and personal development through my newsletter - sharing stories, ideas, and tools that have helped me (most of which, I wish I’d known sooner!). I write about energy, purpose, relationships, the Divine (however you define it), and all the ways we disconnect from (and reconnect with) ourselves.
I have a natural love of philosophy, critical thinking and exploring life's big questions. Think of me as someone who's walking and talking along the personal development and spiritual path, sharing what I learn along the way.
Why I write
I write because I enjoy getting my ideas out of my head and onto paper. But more than that, I write because I believe something I share might resonate with you in a way that nudges you closer to finding your answers. I think that's always been what I’ve enjoyed - helping people realise that change can happen.
I don’t have all the answers but I believe that through exploring these topics together and learning how to find your own answers, you can make positive change in your life right now - without having to buy or achieve anything, or wait for 'as soon as.'
What's next
Right now, I'm building a body of work through my newsletter. Down the line, I'm thinking about offering workshops, maybe courses. And, it’s more than likely I'll return to 1-1 coaching (when I have a bit more time).
But for now, I'm enjoying the creative process and the freedom to explore ideas without a specific goal or result in mind (which as someone who lives for structure and goals - I never thought I’d say!)
Let's stay connected
The best way to follow along is to subscribe to my newsletter. That's where I show up and share my best thinking.
